Drs. Richard Sztramko and Anthony Levinson met virtually to examine the part genetics may play in developing dementia. Together they discuss what genes are, the role they may play in the different types of dementia, current research, and genetic testing.

Through his work with patients with dementia and their families, Dr. Sztramko came to understand that there is a desire and need for online education about dementia that has been developed by experts in geriatrics. This inspired him to pursue the creation of iGeriCare. He was formerly an Assistant Professor at McMaster University and the University of British Columbia, focusing on eHealth interventions related to patient education and physician and healthcare provider communication.

At the Division of e-Learning Innovation, Dr. Levinson exercises his passion for researching and developing online solutions to deliver high-quality health educational experiences to both the public and health care professionals. IGeriCare provides a unique opportunity to leverage his expertise in mental health and learning technologies to create a modern and engaging approach to dementia education. Dr. Levinson practices Consult-Liaison Psychiatry, with a special interest in dementia and other cognitive and mental disorders in the medically ill. He is a professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster University, as well as the John Evans Chair in Health Sciences Educational Research.
